Terms

squattime is a counter, not a coach. By downloading or using the app, or using this site, you agree to these terms. The short version: squatting is exercise, exercise carries risk, and you do it at your own risk. If that doesn't work for you, don't use squattime.

Not medical advice

Nothing in the app or on this site — including the science pages, the benchmark tables, the protocols, and any numbers about blood pressure, glucose, or aging — is medical advice. It's a summary of published research and common coaching practice, not a plan built for you, and not a diagnosis or treatment for anything. Talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise routine, especially if you have a knee, hip, back, heart, or blood-pressure condition, are pregnant, or haven't exercised in a while.

Isometric holds and blood pressure

Wall sits and squat holds raise your blood pressure sharply while you hold them, and holding your breath under strain raises it further. Research on isometric training and resting blood pressure is encouraging, but that research was run on screened participants under supervision — it is not a green light for anyone to hold a wall sit to failure. If you have high or uncontrolled blood pressure, a heart condition, glaucoma, a recent surgery, or you're pregnant, get medical clearance before doing timed holds, and breathe throughout rather than bracing.

You squat at your own risk

Squats load your knees, hips, back, and ankles. Injuries — from over-use aches to acute strains to falling over during a hold — are an inherent risk of the activity, and you assume that risk entirely. Progress gradually, stop if something hurts, and don't train through pain. squattime never tells you to do another rep or hold longer than your body allows; only you can judge that.

Your setup is your responsibility

squattime doesn't inspect your floor, your wall, your shoes, or wherever you prop your phone. Clearing enough space, squatting on a surface that isn't slick, and making sure the wall you're sitting against and the phone you've propped up aren't going to move — that's on you.

The counter is best-effort

squattime uses the camera to detect when your hips reach the knee line. It works well, but computer vision isn't perfect: lighting, framing, baggy clothing, and camera angle can affect detection, so a rep can be missed and a count can be wrong. squattime is for training and fun — don't rely on it for anything where a missed or wrong measurement could cause harm, and don't treat its numbers as a clinical measurement of anything.

Leaderboards are social, not audited

The "verified" mark means a body did that geometry in front of a camera. It does not mean nobody sat on a chair. Boards are for fun between friends; treat them that way. Keep display names and shared challenge links civil. Scores that are clearly faked may be removed from leaderboards where Apple's tools allow it.

squattime pro

The core app is free, including the counter, the holds, and the leaderboards. squattime pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. Billing, receipts, and refunds go through the App Store under Apple's terms — we never see your payment details.

Game Center

Leaderboards and challenges run on Apple's Game Center under Apple's terms and your Game Center settings.

License

The app is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, plus these terms. Don't copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law says we can't stop you.

No warranty

squattime and this site are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't promise the app will be accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Movebook LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the app or your training — and total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that ends up in court belongs in the state or federal courts of California.

Changes

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. Using the app after an update means you accept the new terms.
