My reps aren't counting
Almost always depth. A rep only counts when your hip crease reaches the top of your knee — the same standard a powerlifting judge uses. If the depth bar's dot never enters the lit zone, the rep never happened as far as squattime is concerned. Watch the bar for a set and you'll see exactly where you're stopping. If you genuinely can't reach depth yet, see what counts as parallel for how to get there.
It's counting, but the number looks low
Bouncing at the bottom doesn't add reps — squattime counts the full cycle, standing to depth to standing, so it can't double-count a bounce. If you're stopping short of standing all the way up between reps, the cycle never closes and the next rep doesn't register. Come up tall each time.
The camera can't see me
Prop the phone up so your whole body is in frame from head to feet, at about hip height if you can, and face it. squattime is designed for a head-on view — that's what makes the readout glanceable mid-set — but a side profile works too. Baggy sweatpants over the knee and hip are the most common cause of a jumpy skeleton; something more fitted helps a lot.
My hold ended while I was still down there
A hold ends when your hips rise back past the end line, and creeping up slowly within the band shouldn't end it. If it's cutting out anyway, it usually means part of you left the frame — move the phone back until your whole body fits. You can also tap the timer to run a hold by hand. Manual holds don't count toward leaderboards or your streak, because the camera never saw the geometry.
Is a wall sit or a squat hold better?
squattime doesn't make you choose — it labels which one it saw and times both the same way. If you're wondering which to do, reps vs holds covers it.
I did a squat hold and it also counted a rep
That's deliberate. Standing back up out of a hold is a complete squat — down to depth and back up — so it counts as one, and it lands in whatever set was already open rather than starting a new one. A hold isn't the opposite of a rep; it's a rep with a long pause at the bottom.
I'm not on the leaderboard
Leaderboards use Game Center. Sign in on your phone under Settings, then Game Center, and your squats will start counting.
A challenge link didn't open the app
Make sure squattime is installed first. Then tap the link again, or open the app and try the link from Messages.
My streak reset and I did squat that day
The streak needs a day total of 10 camera-verified reps or 60 seconds of hold — either one on its own is enough, and it's the whole day added up, not a single set. Manual holds never count toward it.
